Advocacy State Representative: Scott Bleiweis
Scott is happy to help advocate for the vitally important role of international education in our academic and general societal landscapes with GAIE. He works as an International Student and Scholar Advisor at Georgia Tech, where he helps support incoming international students and visiting research scholars. Scott also enjoys being involved in the campus community, and serves as an instructor for GT1000, Tech’s seminar course that helps new students adjust to college academic life, as well as a staff advisor for Team Buzz which organizes Tech’s campus-wide day of volunteering. He can also be seen cheering on the Yellow Jackets at various GT sporting events!
Scott has a B.A. in Politics from Brandeis University, and an M.A. in International Studies from the University Denver, during which he studied diplomacy and studied abroad in Guatemala. Scott also received a Fulbright teaching fellowship and lived in Bulgaria for 2 years as an English and journalism teacher.
His goals as Advocacy State Representative include: encouraging international educators to advocate for common sense legislation that benefits both our students studying abroad and our incoming international students and scholars; outreach opportunities for students and scholars in these uncertain times, including those employees and students who are undocumented; and fostering continued growth for experienced and new-to-the-field international educators to better serve of our population.
