GAIE Mentor/Mentee Program
If you are looking to expand your networks in international education in the state of Georgia, this program is for you. The GAIE Mentor/Mentee Program is designed to pair newcomers to international education (IE) with more experienced professionals in their particular area of expertise. The program is suitable for those brand new to the field and those with significant experience who may be new to the state simply looking to build their professional network here in Georgia.
Who can participate?
All participants should be able to commit to at least one year.
Preferred qualifications for "experienced professionals" are individuals who are available and willing to invest in the time needed to foster a professional relationship with a "newcomer." Experienced professionals should have attended at least one GAIE conference and have worked in the field of International Educator for a minimum of three years.

Expectations
The GAIE Mentor/Mentee Program will match participant pairs and expect them to maintain this relationship for one year. You will be matched prior to the winter conference and your partnership will continue until the next year's winter conference. The Experienced Professional is expected to take the lead role and to encourage growth in the partnership.

- Sit together at conference Business Luncheon
- Attend Mentor/Mentee session at winter conference (if offered)
- Be available to your partner for introductions at conference events
Suggested activities throughout the year:
- One call per month to check in (discuss, for example, talk about your normal work day or make note of a strategy, regulation, or situation or policy to discuss)
- Be available via email, to the extent that it does not create a burden for either participant, for questions or advice
- Meet outside of conferences, if possible
- Encourage and assist a mentee to present at a state or regional conference
